Saramonic Blink 500 B2+: The Budget-Friendly Wireless Mic with Unique Features
In a market where new wireless mic systems seem to emerge every other day, it’s beneficial for consumers as it pushes companies to innovate, keep prices low, and enhance aesthetics. The new budget-friendly wireless mic from Saramonic, the Blink 500 B2+, excels in all these aspects. Priced competitively at $130, this mic system is not only affordable but also boasts a unique feature that sets it apart from most other wireless mics. In this article, I’ll be testing and reviewing the Saramonic Blink 500 B2+ to see if it delivers on its promises.

First Impressions and Features

One of the first things I noticed about the Saramonic Blink 500 B2+ is its compact and lightweight design. The sleek, small transmitters come with all the necessary audio cables for connecting to your camera or laptop. Additionally, the package includes two adapters: a lightning adapter for iOS devices and a USB-C adapter for Android devices, allowing you to connect the receiver directly to your smartphone.
Each transmitter offers up to 16 hours of use on a single charge, and the case charges everything via a single USB-C port. The package also includes two dead cats for wind protection and a handy carrying bag.
A notable feature is the inclusion of small magnets, which make it easy to attach the transmitters to your clothes. The ambient light on the transmitters adds a stylish touch, but it can be hidden by placing the magnet on the outside if preferred. Alternatively, you can clip the transmitters onto your clothes.
Outdoor Performance
To test the audio quality, I took the Saramonic Blink 500 B2+ outside. I set the transmitter to stereo mode, though it also offers a mono mode. I prefer using the safety track feature, setting it 6 dB lower than the main track to prevent clipping during loud moments. Although it wasn’t too windy during the test, I appreciated the ease of attaching and detaching the wind protection.
In noisy environments, the built-in low-cut filter, which can be set to 75 or 150 dB, and the two noise cancellation modes are valuable features. The noise cancellation effectively reduced background noise from passing cars and trucks. The transmitters have a range of up to 150 meters, provided there are no obstacles between the transmitter and receiver. Check out my outdoor review here:
Indoor Performance and Unique Feature
Next, I tested the system indoors in an untreated space with significant reverb to evaluate its performance in such conditions. The audio quality remained impressive, highlighting the system’s versatility.

Now, what truly sets the Saramonic Blink 500 B2+ apart from other wireless systems? Besides its sleek design and budget-friendly price, the system allows simultaneous recording to your camera and smartphone. By sliding on the lightning or USB-C adapter to connect the receiver to your phone and running the 3.5mm cable to your camera’s audio input, you can record to both devices. This feature is particularly useful for livestreaming on your phone while recording on your camera or creating both short and long-form content with clean audio on both devices.
Final Thoughts
Overall, the Saramonic Blink 500 B2+ is a fantastic budget option for content creators. The sound quality is excellent, and the system is easy to use once you get accustomed to it.
One downside is the limited number of buttons on the transmitters, which can be confusing initially, but this is a trade-off for its small and sleek design. It would be nice to have a lav input and a backup track recorded on the transmitter itself, but including these features would likely increase the price.
If you’re looking for an affordable wireless mic system with unique features, the Saramonic Blink 500 B2+ is worth considering.
